A82 Glen Gloy Improvement 15 June 2015

Realignment of a section of road that was weakened in heavy rain in November 2011.

As reconstruction of the road that suffered the landslip would entail a lengthy closure of the A82, Transport Scotland are instead building an entirely new section of road further back from the river, which also eliminates two tight bends.

A82 Tarbet to Inverarnan Upgrade 18 February 2015

Improvement of a 10-mile section of trunk road alongside Loch Lomond, subsequent to the existing Pulpit Rock improvement scheme.

The existing road is narrow and has an extremely poor alignment, running along the steep shoreline of the loch and constrained by the adjacent railway.

Options being considered are an on-line improvement of the existing road; a new road just inland of the railway; or an entirely new line to the west linking to the A83 at Arrochar.

A77 Maybole Bypass 6 January 2015

Construction of a new single two-lane road, with additional climbing lanes on hill sections, to carry the A77 trunk road around the west side of Maybole. At present the A77 passes along the High Street of the town, which is extremely narrow, and through a railway bridge which has limited height clearance.

The new road bypasses the town and also a significant length of existing road to the north-east. It will incorporate three new roundabouts; one at each end to tie in to the existing route and one at the junction with the B7023. There will be no other junctions.

A96 Haudagain Improvement 30 December 2014

Improvement in capacity at the junction of the A90 and A96 in the suburbs of Aberdeen, which is presently a flat roundabout that is operating above its intended capacity.

A short new link road will be built between the A90 to the south and A96 to the west, through the Middlefield area of Aberdeen, to allow traffic to bypass the junction, removing some traffic flows from the roundabout.

The work will commence after completion of the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route in 2018, at which point the north-south route through this junction will no longer be the A90.

The intermediate junction will still be grade-separated for safety reasons.
