Provision of a new junction 10A on the M20, and associated A2070 link road, to provide improved access to South Ashford.
The new junction will essentially form a single junction complex incorporating the existing junction 10, with two interlinked roundabout interchanges.
The new link road will be dualled and will meet the existing A2070 at a signalized T-junction.
Following the autumn spending review, the DfT has stated that it will seek to improve the design and sequence of work for this scheme.
This scheme was missed out in a round of transport funding allocation and locals now fear it may not go ahead.
A public consultation on the scheme will run from 14 January 2016 until 17 March 2016.
The Planning Inspectorate issued a report of recommendation to the Secretary of State on 01 September 2017. The Secretary of State has 3 months in which to issue a decision.
Works are commencing with road closures due in place from late February 2018
Trees have been cut down on both sides of the M20, and the hard shoulder is closed off with cones in both directions for a mile after Junction 10 coastbound.
Signs have appeared on both carriageways advising that work begins on April 30 and will run until "Summer 2020".
The M20 is down to 2 lanes in each direction with a 50mph limit and average speed cameras installed for the duration of the works. A 40mph limit on the A2070 will also remain in place until 2020.
